A Day Worth Recording

By Cheeseminer

Friday 14th

Just seems like the 13th...  The photo today is compensation for the rather interesting day we've had.  However, it does illustrate the glorious colours of the acer that positively glows in the morning light.

This is not the morning light.

Go large.

The early hours saw some serious weather here - high winds and a lot of rain.   A combination of which had removed a few slates and installed a new shower in the Nursery apartment - in the hallway.

Slightly unfortunate as guests were arriving this afternoon.

We're thankful for a few things.  One our ability not to be fazed by it raining through the ceiling; that Rod-the-Roofer was already on-site by the time we'd placed buckets and phoned him; and that we seem to have outstanding insurers.  The proof of the latter will be in the pudding, but so far they've been human, helpful, straightforward and sent out a clean-up-and-assess team this very afternoon.

Said team cleared up, have installed industrial driers and dehumidifiers (OK, so the place now sounds like Heathrow), and even took meter readings so that they can pay for the electric the driers use - which is good as the Uberwidget is saying that's really quite a lot of electrons guys.

We've accommodated the guests in a mixture of other rooms so they've done well in terms of luxury, if not quietness.

Just to add to the entertainment, it seemed like it would be a good idea to turn up the heating in the apartment - any to find that the boiler was now refusing to start up.  Plumber #8 (#7 being away) managed a fix late in the day.

We went to the pub.
