The Edge of the Wold

Wifie and Gus in front of the view home from Potter Fell. In the far distance is the faint outline of Arnside Knott, with the nearer flat-topped massif of Whitbarrow on the right.

We went for an afternoon walk from Staveley to Potter Tarn via the aptly named Frost Hole, then down via Hundhowe and along the Kent back to the village in the gathering darkness. Wilf's was shut by then, so we went for fish and chips in the Hawkshead Brewery Tap, washed down in my case by a delicious pint of Cumbrian 5 Hop. As usual Gus covered two or three times the distance we did, and he is sleeping in front of the fire now.

I have posted another photo from the walk on Flickr, which will appeal to my friend Simon.
