A Collector of Oddities

ULLA!

Went to see Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds last night with my dad and my husband. It was actually at the Hydro and not the Armadillo but I quite liked this photo with the blurred shadowy figures. A seething mass of humanity!

The show was brilliant. They have rejigged it a little but thankfully not too much. You can't improve on perfection after all. Shayne Ward was great as the artilleryman. Brian McFadden was possibly a bit off-colour tonight as he had his autotune turned up to 11 which was a bit surprising but I think the best performance came from Jason Donovan who was brilliant as the parson. The rest of the audience must have agreed as he got the biggest cheer of the singers!

They really went to town on the pyrotechnics and the fighting machine was blasting the audience left right and centre. Sadly we were sitting a bit too high up to get heat-rayed but the effect was still spectacular. But still the best bit was just hearing the first bars of the music being played by a live orchestra. Thrilling.

Then we woke up to news this morning of strange sonic booms being heard over a large swathe of the UK. But from where we were at the time, the Martians could have landed and we wouldn't have noticed..
