You don't have to get it right the first time

A thought to remember, especially given the thing I've got to think very hard about right now (that's not quite ready to be made public just yet).

On a different but not-entirely-unrelated note;

Wisdom springs from meditation;
without meditation wisdom wanes.
Having known these two paths of progress and decline,
let one so conduct oneself that one's wisdom may increase.

Dhammapada 20.282

The key bit is 'having known these two paths' - you never advance directly from point A to point B, there's always some (or perhaps a lot) of slippage. In fact it might even be saying that a certain amount of slippage is necessary, to make you appreciate your achievements all the more.
