Watch Me Preen!

This wood pigeon (columba palumbus) made my afternoon, perching at eye level directly across the street from our 4th floor apartment in Paris's 13th arrondissement. He stayed in this position for nearly ten minutes while I took 190 potential blips, before flying a bit further away (where I took a few more). He spent a good bit of time preening, which provided quite a few variations; this seemed the best.

Wood pigeons are generally found in settled areas across Europe, and they are fairly common in Paris. I've gotten better shots of them from our apartment than any other bird--in part due to their large size.

My lens combination was Canon's f/4 400 mm DO, with a 2x telextender (doubler).
