Dunoon morning

When all the world was young and I took my firstborn to school in the morning, I used to marvel at the deserted feel of the town on any morning I headed there with the pram instead of going straight home. For many years I was part of the pre-9am rush to work, and the quiet that succeeded it slipped from my memory.

Today I was in the main street at 9.30am. The sun had only appeared half an hour earlier, and was just beginning to shine down the street. I saw two people. And several of the shops had not yet opened.
