A time for everything

Ruddy turnstone

I went for an early morning walk on the beach before breakfast, where I got this shot of the very pretty Ruddy Turnstone. As their name suggests, they often forage by turning over stones and other objects. I also got some nice shots of the Black-bellied plover. After breakfast we went for a bike ride to the lighthouse. Strictly speaking, we took the bikes on the car as far as Jerry's, the supermarket, and rode from there, as the lighthouse is clear at the other end of the island, and we figured that would be a bit too far in the heat. After our ride, Roger and I did some grocery shopping, while Jen took Kelli home in her car, and Laura decided to cycle all the way back to the condo. The afternoon we spent at the beach, then late afternoon/early evening we went for a drive around the Ding Darling Widlife Refuge.
