The Lozarithm Lens

Marwell Wildlife

Yesterday I had one of those rather significant birthdays, and I chose to spend it at the zoo. Mr & Mrs Spotlight Kid and I went to Marwell Wildlife centre, one I had not visited before, and I spent a couple of hours clicking away on my K-x using the 50-200mm zoom, learning more about the camera and about animal photography.

I got shots of leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, red pandas, servals, zebras (see Extra) and all sorts, of distinctly amateur standard, but my favourite shot was of this antelope (at least I think it is an antelope - I don't remember which kind; there were so many breeds of "even-toed ungulate species", as Wikipedia describes them, that I rather lost track).

More photos from this shoot are on Flickr (three at time of writing, more to follow in June as I've reached my limit for this month).
