Maggie's Centre Kirkcaldy

Previously photographed just from the outside. Today was Doors Open Day in Fife, and the Blacksand artists were having an exhibition there. So a double reason to visit; one for the exhibition, and two to check out the interior of this interesting building.

The artworks were done in response to the building. I think they get their name from the beautiful (?) black sand of Kirkcaldy beach (really just waste from the coal mines).

The triangular theme is all over the place, although the building isn't as harsh inside as it appears from outside. Instead of being hard black, it's white, with more rounded areas. Some interesting doors doubling up as walls, some awkward spaces created by the angular layout, but overall, not bad.
