Was It Really So Long Ago

A Series in Watercolour: John Moss 1/10

WINMARLEIGH CHURCH

For my late Great Auntie, Winmarleigh was the place of work and residence for many years at the agricultural college.

In retirement, Cecily lived with her sisters Annie (of Rolls Royce) and Margaret (district nurse). All three were career women, in the days when this was a choice to be made at the expense of a family life.

Their brother, my grandfather had the luxury of being a family man whilst enjoying a significant career. As an architect, he travelled around the country, working on significant projects, dragging his family with him.

In retirement, he took to watercolour painting amongst other activities, including innovating new tools and tricks to help budding artists. These fondly remembered relatives are no longer with us, however a series of watercolours remain as a lasting reminder of yesteryear.

I'm very glad to own a few of the originals. This one resides over our stairs on daily view.

Its not the best photo, but I hope you like it.
