West Kennett Longbarrow

West Kennett Longbarrow is one of Wiltshire's treasures. Not only older than Stonehenge, it even pre-dates Silbury Hill by a millennium, having been constructed over 5,500 years ago. It is a chambered tomb used to bury around 50 people over a thousand-year period, before being filled in 4,000 years ago.

This picture depicts the neolithic stone entrance at its head, on this extremely chilly desolate day.
