Broken Lives

The graveyard of St John's Parish Church, Baildon is an atmospheric place. From the main churchyard you have to descend a steep flight of mossy steps, to an area overgrown with ivy and bramble. The graves here are not tended, and in fact are in a state of disarray. Some head stones have toppled over, and like the one in this image, have cracked or shattered.

It is probably overdue a restoration, but then it may lose some of its character if that happened.

Perhaps, at least, a little more respect could be shown to the place and the dumping of garden waste and expired Christmas trees could be discontinued.

past lives ~ cracked ~ carved stone ~ gathering moss ~ rest in pieces
