Guardians

Two locals bowabs getting ready for the curfew where they stand all night on the lookout for trouble. I have so much respect for these men, I really do.

It's all very uncertain what we should be doing. Hearing that governments are strongly advising people to leave is unnerving. Sensationalism from certain ex-pats who don't know what the fuck they're talking about isn't so much unnerving as just plain irritating.

We can't just shove everything we own into two suitcases like a lot of ex-pats can. We've got furniture, musical instruments, hundreds of DVDs, games...generally all the things that make a home a home. I can't see how to just leave it. Also, my university's head of HR (who is a Nazi) has my important qualification documents which she has been refusing to give back for two months. When this is over, she's going to get ripped a-fucking-part.

So, what to do?

Stay, and hope everything calms down? Go, and come back when everything calms down? (Go where?) Stay, and leave when it becomes too dangerous for us to stay here?

At the moment, we're safe, have enough food and water for a few days, plenty credit in the UK SIM cards (thanks so much Stuart), and are happy to wait and see what happens.
