There is Nothing.....

"There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter.
Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it.
Whether you get away, or whether you don't;
whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular;
and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not."

The group I was working with today wanted to spend an hour or so out on Windermere in one of our rowing boats.

It was a super afternoon and an opportunity for them to get out on the lake couldn't be missed.

They rowed across the flat calm to the far side whilst I shadowed them at a distance in the rescue boat.

I anchored their boat and ferried them to the shore where they had a short walk and some hot chocolate.

I took this while they were ashore.

I picked them up again and they rowed back, treated to a low-level pass by a Chinook helicopter.
