Hi, I'm Laura. Once upon a time I dreamed of being a mathematician. I battled through a lot to scrape a degree from the University of Cambridge. I became a Christian while I was a student and I honestly think that is the only reason I made it through the rest of my degree and am still alive today.

My relationship with maths is very much a love/hate one and I don't exactly know what I want to do with my life. A bigger challenge right now though is that of my mental health.

I am officially signed off work with depression but I also have a history of OCD which seems to be enjoying rearing its ugly head at the moment.

Sometimes I hate myself; sometimes I think I am quite nice. Sometimes I don't know how I can keep going; sometimes I feel like I am a fraud. Sometimes I fear I am never going to recover; sometimes I get scared I am getting better! So, welcome to my world. It's not simple, I shall warn you now!

The good news, however, is that, through the highs and lows, ups and downs, God never changes. He is a constant where there is no other. I used to think that claims about the existence of God were illogical. But that was before I had examined the evidence.

And not only does God exist, he loves us more than we can possibly imagine. He created us; he knit me together in my mother's womb. He has good plans for me.

We have all fallen short of the perfect standard he wants, but he didn't give up on us. Instead, he sent his son to die and take the punishment for us. None of us can get to heaven by being good as nobody can be good enough. We can now be justified by faith in Jesus though, how great is that!

If we accept Jesus, God will look on us just as if we had never sinned. Faith in Jesus is the only way to heaven. And once in heaven, there will be no more pain or sorrow. Whatever distress I feel now, God will help me through it and it will pass. It is but nothing in comparison to the eternal glory I have to look forward to.
