It was a perfect day to visit the recently restored Japanese Garden at Cowden as the sun shone and it was peaceful with only the song of birds and quiet chat of visitors. The azaleas were at their best and there were many spring flowers in the woodland. The garden had been created in 1908 by a Japanese woman and consists of several acres of Japanese influenced design.  “It is designed to help us to escape the everyday world and connect with natural wonders….. Even the zigzag bridge mirrors life as we navigate our way through challenges, changing direction as we go.
The extra is of a few of the flowers, apart from the three azaleas, which were in the woods.  These include the white tiarella, pink primula japonica, white creeping dogwood, yellow tree peony and white trillium.
Driving home we were engulfed in haar so thick that it was hardly possible to see the car in front as we crossed over the Forth so we had been very fortunate in the gardens. The temperature on the car gauge was 13c while at 4 o’clock it was 18c at home and probably about 21c at I o’clock at Cowden away from the influence of the cold haar which has been around at times for several days
