Rhododendrons - Love 'Em or Hate 'Em

Rhododendrons can be stunningly beautiful, like the ones we saw in the woods today. Big, bold flowers, and lots of them. The extra is a good example. It's easy to see why they were planted so widely. 

The down side is that not much local wildlife thrives on these plants. They have spread through the woods over the decades, and they block the light so nothing grows underneath them.

But they are eye catching at this time of year.
