Three from The Lowry - 6 April 2024

Ages ago I agreed to do a camera club session on creating a Triptych as it’s one of the forthcoming camera club competitions, so I began my morning creating a few new ones and locating a few more from the past.  I need to do a bit more thinking about a few principles, e.g. subject, background, border width, colour, b&w. And then layout, e.g horizontal, vertical, I.e. is it telling a story or exploring different aspects of design and pattern.

My extra was taken yesterday, I’ve chosen to arrange it vertically as it shows pattern rather than telling a story.

In the afternoon it was The RPS Contemporary Group Zoom meeting which is open to people from around the world, though in practice it’s the wider Uk and Northern Europe.  I’d agreed with Lyn that I’d be there early to support Patricia, who runs the group.  It was an interesting session, with quite a bit of interaction for a zoom meeting.  I particularly loved Anastasia's black and white images about family which relied quite a bit on her use of mirrors and reflective surfaces.  And also Harry’s very sympathetic portraits taken in India. I’ll try to remember to add a link here when it appears in Showcasse.

P.s. I disturbed the Hornet again as I walked up the steps to the back garden.  I still haven’t managed a photograph.  Like many others in the wasp family it is drawn to the insignificant flowers on a Cotoneaster.
