Thursday 2 September 2010: South over Scapa Flow

I bussed to Stenness and walked up the Bigswell Rd to Russadale. Up past the old quarry onto South Rusky hill. A couple of merlins were high overhead and there were a few grouse and raven around too. I continued on to Mid and then Ward Hill, where I took this.
I headed down Rams Dale past a military rifle range. I got to Orphir village and was far too early for the bus, so carried on toward Gyre and left the road to cross The Fidge. I made coffee on an old pier on Toy Ness then carried on to Houton where I got a bus back to Kirkwall.
