Now retired I was brought up in Ramsbottom, a Lancashire UK cotton town on the river Irwell north of Manchester. Worked in Bolton, Brentwood (Essex), and Westonbirt (Gloucestershire). Then in Kuwait (where I met my present wife Alison), Spain and Brazil. Now live in Dystopia (otherwise Inverness, Scotland). For some years worked as a freelance indexer (back-of-book indexes) but recently gave it up and am trying to get out and about, finding new things and taking photographs.
