Manual Transition

Wednesday 1 September 2010: Great dof

This is a depth of field exercise. Don't be fooled into thinking nothing blip-worthy crossed my path all day and this is just the first thing I saw at 10.30pm from my blip-less desk. Oh no.

So today: washing, cleaning, home schooling, shopping, ironing, ironing, ironing and trying to stop my tooth falling out.

I'm off to the dentist tomorrow. Some time early on in the Spanish trip some over enthusiastic bread chewing cracked a tooth. Not a very good tooth, obviously, one that consists more of man-made material than of tooth. I don't think things look good for that tooth and I expect that a world of cost and pain lie ahead of me next week. The kids are coming along tomorrow for the check up (so hopefully I won't scream too much when the dentist* pokes around). After that we're off on our travels again, for a long weekend in London staying with friends, including a 40th birthday party in the park.

I'm off now to meditate and think good thoughts about dentistry.**

*The delightfully named 'Pearly'.

** Only kidding. I'm obviously off to do some more ironing.

  1. Ah, nice depth of field indeed. I'm 11 minutes behind you and clearly needing to practise a similar exercise.

As for the tooth - oh no. You should stick to rusks in future.

    ~ magpie

  2. Why don't you teach the kids to iron?

There was me thinking this home schooling lark would be hard work. But it seems to consist mostly of "field trips", you lucky thing.

Shame about the tooth, that's what happens when you've passed a milestone birthday that we need not mention.

    ~ Mo

  3. I'd take a guess and say whichever side of the mouth, the tooth will be the 6th from the middle.

  4. Is the dentist visit another field trip?

Thanks for the good wishes. At the moment I'm stupidly worrying about missing the kids but hopefully once we're there that will pass.

Have a great time in London - you will see the kids as grandfolk have been invited along.

    ~ Lesley

  5. Sometimes I wish I was a dentist, but I am far from it. However the 6th teeth are the first adult molars growing at the age of 6 and 6 year olds are not that good at brushing at the back. So they get the worst hit throughout a lifetime. And I know it all from experience, a very bad experience I should add.

  6. I lost my first tooth a few months ago, it broke my heart as I was always so proud that I had al my teeth at 58, now I fear I am on that onward jorney to Toothlessness as I approach 60 and 70, hahaha.

BTW are you doing an OU course on Digital Photography as this was one of the exercises I had to do too.

    ~ brickmaker

  7. Are you at that age where you need to liquidise your food?

    ~ MrSmith

  8. A world of pain. Nice. Good luck at dentists, although by now you've probably been and gone and are drooling everywhere!

    ~ 42

  9. Ouch ,, I hope they don't do a root canal and then decide to pull it out three months after .
    I don't iron :)
    Amazing DOF here !!!!!
