Thursday 24 July 2008 : Millions of Peaches...

ok, not quite millions, but definitely for me*. We discovered this peach tree at the bottom of the garden, having thought that all the old ones had been destroyed after they got leaf curl. Quite a nice suprise, though I have to say the peaches don't taste a patch on the ones at the market - still there's a certain satisfaction in wandering down the garden and picking a peach, when you normally live in Scotland.

*Actually most of the peaches are eaten by the ants; there being only a few seconds between the peaches becoming ripe, and them being consumed by insects - it happened at about noon today.

Today, thankfully, our son was much better - after a very restless night with me sitting beside him biting my fingers down to my knuckles that he'd get through the night without me having to trouble a French A&E.

So just a boring day dealing with chores: fixing the table (blown over in a storm while we were away), waiting for the plumber then pretending to understand all he said about our options for irrigation, pool heating and a new fireplace. And, of course, waiting for our very own Godot: the EDF man to read the meter. No chance.
