Katiki Beach

Took another road trip today to Moeraki to have lunch at Fleurs Place courtesy of vouchers given to Mother and I for Christmas. We bought one for my sister as a belated birthday present. The three of us had a wonderful meal in a rustic but quirky restaurant overlooking the ruffled waters of Moeraki. Quite a wind blowing but the skies were brilliantly blue and studded with cotton-wool clouds.

A glass of crisp Peregrine Pinot Gris accompanied blue cod wrapped in home cured bacon with steamed vegetables and pipis cooked in white wine and garlic. Mum had lamb loin with barley mash and kumara chips - which had a soft intimation of ginger clinging to them - and my sister had a fillet steak on kumara mash and a stack of steam vegetables all vamped up with a sweet pepper gravy.

One does not fine dine and not do dessert so we shared a sublime chocolate pot with poached rhubarb and Chantilly cream and a strawberry soup dressed with mixed berries and a delightful roasted hazelnut ice cream.

Awesome experience which we intend to repeat as soon as we can save some dollars. Highly recommend anyone to get a taste of Fleurs Place.

On the trip home we stopped at Katiki beach (where this image was captured)for a stroll and to let the four legged member of our clan cock a leg and chase some gulls.

Now for some back blipping
