Saturday 19 March 2011: Eagle Island

Eagle Island, named after the discoverer, not the bird, bordered by the Cape Fear River and the Brunswick River. This image was taken from a boat on the Brunswick River. The island is inhabited by Osprey and alligators, former rice plantations in one part and the ghost of a bustling seaport across from the city of Wilmington.

Please know that I am most appreciative of your kind words regarding my celebratory blip yesterday. Thanks to all.
