SERCHIO VALLEY PEAR ORCHARD

It's barking mad to drive miles to another valley and take a lot of pictures of pear orchards, then fall for a quick snap of a donkey. This made all of the pear pictures look drab. Then I had a choice between overall good picture or good focus. Scenic picture won; focus lost. The single donkey pic was focused on a vine and not her so with luck, she will be there tomorrow.

The trees look twisted and tortured but they produce a lot of pears and are easy to pick. The Serchio River Valley is a mass of fruit trees, mostly pears and cherries but quite a few peaches, too. The old villas lined their driveways with pear trees. The view of the valley from the road above is being marred by rows of plastic tunnels, not a pretty sight.

Another orchard.

Villa driveway.

For the record: 17C. Overcast. Humidity 78%.
