People in Glass Houses

More beautiful weather & a visit to the gardens at Syon House, home to the Dukes of Northumberland. Why do Dukes so seldom seem to live where their titles would suggest?
This is the glass house, designed by Charles Fowler & built 1820-27. Apparently it is one of England's earliest glass houses, pre-dating the famous palm house at nearby Kew by about 20 years. It was also studied by Joseph Paxton, who designed the Crystal Palace for the 1851 Great Exhibition in London's Hyde Park.
