Piglet

[Probably should be censored for those who do not eat pig because of religious or vegetarian sensibilities....]

Our son Andrew will reach his 40th birthday at the end of this month.

His wife, Beth, had the brilliant idea of celebrating the occasion with friends over the Easter Weekend by inviting them to a Pig Roast. Easter Saturday was serendipitously also St George's Day. The fond parents were fortunate enough to be asked along.

The venue for the festivities was the Trinity Restaurant in Clapham, which turns out to be a very fine establishment.

They surely did us proud there. The starters themselves were spectacular, as Beth had promised. Trinity's sample lunch menu shows what was on offer: the only deviation was that the Jerusalem Artichoke soup was replaced by a fabulous Wild-Garlic Vichysoisse.

I have assembled a

of the pictures that I took. Others, and especially Nick, will have more professional products to show, but I hope that this lot will give the flavour of the celebration. I've put captions on the side of some, but not all, of the shots.

It was Beth's idea that the participants should wear clothes from (or at least in the style of) the 1970s in deference to Andrew's birth in 1971. I think that some of the photographs will show how everyone succeeded in dressing appropriately in one way or another.

The weather was hot and sunny until fairly late on (although there were violent storms on the way home). What an excellent day out! Thanks to Andrew for reaching this milestone, and thanks to Beth for inventing such a good way of celebrating it!
