Pub by the Bridge

Easter Sunday 2011

Another bright and sunny day, perhaps not as warm as it has been recently. But a perfect day for a cycle ride over the fields from the back of our house to the nearby village of Islip, birthplace of King Edward the Confessor.

In our photograph, you see the bridge over the River Ray, tributary of the River Cherwell. The obvious destination is the Swan Inn!

Since we arrived at exactly the right time, we did toy with the idea of having the Sunday Roast at the pub. However, the roast was (or so I thought that I heard) roast pork. Given our (over)indulgence in pig yesterday (see Blip for 23 April), and because we were still not truly hungry, we decided against the Roast.

Nevertheless, we enjoyed a very nice pint of Old Speckled Hen, basking in the sun-drenched garden.
