In like a lion

I went out to collect eggs earlier in bright sunshine and blue skies then had to run for cover as this hail storm pummeled down (of course I had my camera in my pocket). Behind it was sun and rain and sun and hail and sun. But always the wind, it was the kind of wind that sucks your breath from your lungs.

From reading blip entries I believe the storms have been quite wide spread. Although technically it needs to be a Force 10 before it's classed as a storm, it was certainly noisy enough last night so I reckon it did hit the big ten here.

From this forecast you can see that we are reduced to gales and it's a bit better today...

24 hour forecast:

Wind - Northwest backing west 7 to severe gale 9, decreasing 5 or 6 later.
Weather - Squally showers then rain.
Visibility - Moderate or good, occasionally poor.
Sea State - Rough or very rough, but high in north at first.

And tomorrow it's to be positively tropical....

Outlook for the following 24 hours:

Wind - Westerly 5 to 7, occasionally gale 8.
Weather - Rain or wintry showers.
Visibility - Moderate or good.
Sea State - Rough or very rough.

So Orkney lives up to it's reputation and March lives up to it's proverb. What's the bets that in a few weeks we will all be frolicking in sunshine and green pasture?
