Wednesday 4 May 2011: Church House

Time to revisit some more of Bradford's stone work, glowing in the late afternoon sun.

This is Church House, on North Parade, built in 1871-73. Just about every building on the east side of North Parade is listed but as it's slightly detached from the main commercial centre, it doesn't get too much foot traffic, unless you happen to be walking in or out of town along Manningham Lane. It's covered in carved heads and gothic creatures, which can be viewed from another angle here, and a close-up dragon here.

As extra interest for blippers, it's directly opposite the Bradford Camera Exchange. Indeed there is still a good range of independent shops on this street - there is commercial life in Bradford if you know where to look.
