Thursday 5 May 2011: The polls have now closed

I was home in time to vote here in our local polling station which is the village church hall the rest of the year, and a building which seems to have changed little since the 1950s.

Here in Wales we had three voting papers: for regional and local members of the Welsh Assembly and for the referendum on the Alternative Voting system. The outcome of all this is unlikely to produce any sort of radical change.

[Many thanks for all the good wishes regarding my elder son's bike accident. He's still in hospital pending a final verdict on his skull fracture but he's bounced back to his normal self and is hoping for an early discharge. It was a disturbing event for us all.]
