Sunday 15 May 2011: Lupins

I've lately developed
a longing for lupins;
have even dug the bed
and planted the seeds
and faithfully watered them:
lupins filling my head.

Colourful spikes
with a twist in the tail
and leaves like shaking hands,
with sweetly scented
nostalgic nectar,
familiar floral friends.

I've just rediscovered
a loving of lupins;
remembering them by the shed,
where my toes would touch
from the garden swing,
and lupins bowed me to bed.
