Once ubiquitous, now scarce

A payphone is getting to be a scarcity. There are still a number on campus at York University in Toronto but when they break down or get vandalized, they are not repaired, just removed. A few, like this one, are in little alcoves or grottoes. Some grottoes are empty and all that remain of the once popular hangout. Mobile phones are in the pockets of 80% of teens says a recent survey. Who wants to hang around a dirty old pay phone nowadays?
