Monday 30 May 2011: The Guv'nor
It has a kind of dignified look, this bust of John Hunter. Born a Leither, he went on to become Governor of New South Wales, of which he said "he would certainly have had greater peace of mind, had he spent the time in a penitentiary".
He also wrote An Historical Journal of the Transactions at Port Jackson and Norfolk Island, With the Discoveries That Have Been Made in New South Wales and the Southern Ocean Since the Publication of Phillip's Voyage.
A riveting read. And that's just the title.
