Wistman's Wood

Awoke to a glorious dawn (OK, mid morning) and headed out for Wistman?s Wood.

Wistman?s Wood is a wood of stunted Oak trees, a mile or two walk from Two Bridges. It is a relict of ancient woodlands which once abounded the moor. The gnarled and twisted Oak trees abound with moss and lichen, and appear to grow from boulders. It is of course, haunted by pixies, one of whom stole my vintage Minolta lens cap!

It does need to be be viewed in large to get the full gnarlyness effect.

In other exciting news... we were 35 minutes to early for a cream tea at the Two Bridges hotel, of course sir was free to order anything from the poncy, extortionate menu (a compote of naffness with sautéed pretentiousness and a smarmy jus).

So sir buggered off to Morrisions to buy strawberries, clotted cream and scones and DIY cream tea and cider back at Annie the Adria.

The ferocious scary duck enjoyed cream tea too, to the chagrin of Merryn the brave fearless gundog (MtBFG) , all washed down with a generous slurp of water out of the dog bowl whilst MtBFG cowered behind my chair.

Dartmoor is not known for its broadband wireless connectivity, so had had to back blip this and the last 2 days entries. They are better than my normal feeble attempts so please look.
