The Edge of the Wold

Beenighted

I said last week that some nights a bumblebee overnights on the chives or other plants in the garden. Perhaps they are too cold and exhausted to make it back to the nest. In the morning they are slow to get going while the new arrivals, having emerged from the warmth of their nest, are buzzing actively around. This was one of the overnighters, waiting for the sun to warm her up. They always seem to get going eventually. It was a cool morning, but eventually there were some warm, sunny periods.

A long and somewhat frustrating day at the office today. There was no time to escape at lunchtime, or else I might have gone back to Scout Scar for the shot of the two species of rockrose growing side by side.

My new tripod arrived today, and I'm itching to try it out. It was ordered from Hong Kong, and we were therefore told we would have to pay VAT to have it released by Customs. I duly did this over the phone last week, and today my mother-in-law answered the door to the delivery man and was told she would
have to pay VAT again before it could be released into her hands. She had no choice but to pay. Grrrr!
