Arnside and beyond

Wednesday 8 June 2011: Launch

I had to be in Kendal early today to catch a train for a meeting in Warrington, so I didn't really get a chance to take any photos until I got home late afternoon. I stopped at Sandside to watch the big black clouds over the estuary. As usual there were a couple of black-headed gulls flying about and perching on the posts along the prom.

It was quite windy and this one leaned into the wind to get the lift he needed. Two weeks ago when I was here, it was so windy I could hardly stand up. I watched a gull then being buffeted by the gusts, and being blown off course across the road and I feared he might collide with a car or a truck. Even when on the ground, he was being blown off his feet.
