Tokavaig Sunshine

Hello Rain, so very nice to see you. Have you met Mr Gale Force Winds? No? Oh you two are going to hit it off I can tell...

It's my own fault. We come to Skye every year, and every year someone comments on the inclemency of the island weather. At some point my immediate rejoinder of 'We always do really well with the weather' was bound to backfire. But. We did find a pocket of sunshine on a drive down to Sleat at Tokavaig (we're staying in the north west, our favourite part of the island, in Milovaig), and basked in it (while sheltered behind rocks).

The poor start weather wise was confirmed when we met up with a cycling friend of mine and his wife. It's the first time we've ever been on the island at the same time as anyone we know, but Phil and his wife Julie were taking part in a sportive ride on Saturday and had stayed on for an extra night at the Three Chimneys. Fortuitously bumping into them on the road (not literally of course, we were waved down after I'd told Phil what we'd be driving) plans were made and we joined them in the lounge for whiskies and chat that probably could have gone on all night, but they had a dinner reservation that we would be mirroring on Tuesday. Anyway, Julie had ditched the ride once the hailstones had started, with Phil somehow completing the 100 mile challenge. Neither seemed too enamoured with what Skye had managed to throw at them, and our protestations probably fell on deaf ears.

So it was 'home' for dinner, and making some rolls to take with us in case of the weather brightening meaning we can get out on a walk.
