Sunday 26 June 2011: Lesser stag beetle
Busy day cleaning and sorting ready for the arrival of son number one and mother-in-law.
Had a quick wander around the garden in between ironing, loading washing machine and cleaning bathroom but nothing very exciting turned up. There were some fast moving damsel flies and bees. Some butterflies too but they were flying fast and high today in the heat.
Travellers arrived back at about 5 pm. I still hadn't got a photo. Hanging out another load of washing (son number one's attempt to get stuff clean before he came home was thwarted by it not drying and then beginning to smell very musty!), I nearly stepped on this female lesser stag beetle that was on the mat outside the back door. I had to remember she was there as I plodded in and out.
Extra beds now all made up and awaiting occupants. Hope it cools down a bit before bedtime....
