Sometimes great locations are under your nose

Whilst England suffers under a heatwave, Edinburgh has it's typical Summer weather of rain, grey skies and maybe a light wind. Not the weather to go out and get fantastically colourful landscape images you may think. However, sometimes it's worth just going out into the street you live on and find something interesting.

I am fortunate the interesting thing on my street (or rather under it) is a tunnel built in the 19th Century to carry trains from the Granton Ferry to Waverley station and then latterly to the Scotland Street Goods Yard until it was shut in 1968. It re-opened a couple of years ago and now forms part of the superb cycle network that links Edinburgh - if you look closely you can see the tracks of two cyclists that had just used the tunnel as I arrived to avoid the busy junction up above.
