Sunday 10 July 2011: Fighting off Dementors
We went for a walk with a friend and her children to a local fayre ( apparently spelling it ye olde fashioned way means that you are duty bound to spend money on the terrible tombolas as this type of fayre usually only has 2 stalls and all the money goes to a local charity: " Insects United Against High Heels " or something relevant).
It was a lovely walk, we did spend lots on the tombola and won some some shower gel whilst my friend's daughter won a bottle of Grolsh, slightly concerning that she insisted on carrying it herself ( she is 9 ).
The heavens opened as we headed for the ponds to go pond dipping
There were tadpoles a plenty and some hideous looking slugs and snails but when you are being at one with nature and trying to convince children that this is much better for them than Nintendos then you have to " Ooh " and " Ah " a lot at slimey things ( a bit like when Bob Monkhouse used to present game shows ). To be fair we all got into it and they had a brilliant time. We are going back on Friday to see how much the tadpoles have developed as they are betwixt tadpole and frog at the moment.
Betwixt??? Was there any need for that ?
Anyway, as we were messing around with the editing ( I know, it's hard to tell I have altered this shot at all ... ) the girls decided that this look was very Harry Potter like and as such they admitted that they were trying to slay Dementors not just look at pondlife.
I guess I had best take my best wizard's hat on Friday when we return then...
