Swimming Against The Tide

Seeing Double!

You see, that's the thing about meeting one's spouse at college - when the alumni magazines drop onto the doormat they do so in pairs!

Actually, it's only the Christ Church and Oxford ones that come in pairs. The Wonderspouse's Linacre magazine and my King's London and Institute of Education ones are just singles, but there's always a little amusement when two identical magazines, one for Mr and one for Mrs arrive on the doormat!

Not that we could ever afford to go to most of the alumni events that they advertise in any case, but this term's publication did contain a highly amusing article about some undergrads in the 1970s who decided to try to find out if there was life in Oriel College by launching a homemade rocket from Peck Quad (unfortunately, it exploded shortly after launch, and the mystery of life in Oriel College remains!!!).

It's been a quiet day today. This morning we popped out to buy a few essentials (milk etc) and then called in at the butcher to confirm our booking for a pig roast for our 10th Wedding Anniversary party next year (he gets booked up, so it's a very good idea to get in early). We watched a little golf, snoozed through a Marple, spent time with the cats, and I did a little sorting on the computer.

Now I'm hoping very much that the weather tomorrow is OK because tomorrow is airshow day. Dear weather, please be good and don't disrupt the flying tomorrow. PLEASE?
