Friday 12 August 2011: Who's gonna strike?

Much fun had playing skittles in the Sheep Heid Inn.

This place has been around a long time. From 1360, so quite a while.

Mary Queen of Scots had a habit of stopping of here and so did her son James VI.

This is the oldest venue in the world for playing skittles that is still in use for the same purpose.

Now these are some seriously historic bonus points for this place.

For those initiated, skittles are just like ten pin bowling but there are no holes for your fingers in the balls.

The best strategy is to hold the ball with both hands, swing it between your legs and lunge forward as fast as you can to hurl the ball towards the skittles.

If you do this properly and with enough vigour you end upsliding forwards on your stomach as your skittle ball hurls away from you at great speed.

Notice that if you look carefully you can see KiloRomeo at the back getting his blip as the skittles get struck. A plus point was that he was in the right place to stand the skittles back up for the next play.
