Volcanic

The black stones in this wall are volcanic, thrown up onto the shale of the Red Desert in some huge geological disturbance millions of years ago. This window is in Octon where we had a good, long lunch in the village square on the terrace one of our favourite bars, made slightly longer than it should have been by some unusual forgetfulness on the part of the waiter, but still a very nice place to shelter from the 35-degree heat. A swim afterwards in the lake, where the water was warm. Out to see friends who have a swimming pool this evening. Making the most of the last couple of days of holidays with the family before work starts again for us all.
