SPOTTED IN A STREET IN OSLO # 21

I?m still waiting for Art Walk # 5, but there are many cool things to be spotted in the streets of Oslo.

I really like this stencil that seems to ask the unspoken question: Any letters to me?
The famous C215, the Frenchman Christian Guemy was in Oslo in July and left 30 stensils around in town. Some legal as the one he left in the same kindergarden as I showed you yesterday. Most of the unlegal ones have been destroyed by writers.

C215 use his own pictures or photos, or sometimes photos taken by others with whom he collaborate with as the inspiration for his stencils. C215 has two distinct stenciling styles. One is multi-layered and colorful. The other single layered incorporating at the most two colors.

Each stencil has it own story. The most important thing for him is the feeling inside, the expression of the eyes. He often portraits beggars, homeless people, refugees, street kids and the elderly. The reasoning behind his choice of subject is to draw attention to those that society have forgotten about. These individuals represent the true culture of the locations he visits. His intention is to humanize his subjects and raise awareness about people's struggle by enlightening anyone that views his work with the identities behind each individual.

The origin of the artist's alias C215 originates from the first letter of his legal name Christian - and his former residence. The artist also has two masters degrees, one in art and one in history.

Thanks to the tourist that let me take a photo when he put a letter in the mailbox :-)

Wish you a pleasant Wednesday!
