Catherine Lacey: BoyStory

Nostalgia

I am utterly rubbish at dealing with change, especially when it comes from another family graduating from UCLA. The graduation parties are seldom witnessed by dry eyes amongst us. The kids having come so far in their 18 months of early intervention. The teachers, I can never thank enough for everything they've done for my own boys, and the happy kids at UCLA.

The graduation parties, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of Somewhere over the rainbow/What a wonderful world playing out to the images of the child's journey in the school. Today Miss S graduated upon turning 3, the family I utterly adore. Her sister Miss C goes to the Montessori I was discussing yesterday and Mum Molly to Saint Monica's Church. Baby H has been with Molly from his time in the womb. There are a few rare people we are fortunate enough to meet in our lives who ooze warmth and gentility and that spirit permeates their family, all present today. It comes from within and finds beauty in that person at every level.
