Dirty Pop

Despite the cold (my cold, not the ridiculous downpour of rain cold that was continuing today) I still made it out to see Frisky and Mannish at the festival. Having only ever seen them on youtube doing individual songs it was a relief to find that live they wrap it all up in a narrative. The narrative being 'Pop Centre Plus' a piss take of the job centre where we are all educated for our new careers in the pop industry. Very cleverly done and some of the combinations (The Carpenters Top of the World in a N-Dubz stylee for instance) were so very well studied and she (Frisky or Mannish I'm still not sure) can really sing in such a range of styles and switch octaves mid-syllable with such ease it was pure joy.

Bloody Rhod Gilbert was there though. I'm sure he was in Wedgwood when we were there recently and it was a bit disconcerting to find he was continuing to stalk us despite not even having a show on this year. And he and his entourage had two rows of easily accessible seat reserved which meant we had to sit miles away at the back.
