Wellington Airport

This is the scene which greeted us today after our flight was cancelled last night, the sea so rough and the windsock quite often fully extended, a lone photographer braving the stormy conditions looking for that dramatic shot - wonder if they're a blipper?

Last night Hubby and I booked into the same hotel we had stayed in at the start of our weekend, we had a lovely warm meal and a bit of a relax after our long day. We weren't able to catch up with Daughter A as the weather was horrendous, we had no car, she was cooking tea for her flatmates and then had plenty of study to do.

Although the weather was rough our ascent into the sky above the raging sea was quite calm as we climbed through the clouds. Descending into Christchurch we could see the snow on the plains along with very low cloud and rain with huge mounds of snow lying to the side of the runway, a rare sign for Christchurch.

We have had a fantastic time with Daugther A and Hubby's parents over the last few days. Daughter A enjoyed showing Hubby and I some of the sights of the city she now tends to call 'home'. We hope she has a wonderful birthday here in her city on 20th - Happy Birthday Daughter A :)

On looking back over my blips, they show how the weather played a huge part in our time away, not quite how I had planned things but there will be other trips to this area of New Zealand for scenic and more interesting shots.
