Night Blooming Cereus

Arvin's friend Dani gave him this plant as a cutting quite awhile ago. He put it in water until it rooted and then planted it in dirt. It sits on our kitchen window sill where it gets morning sun. It has grown quite large and recently produced this bud. The bud is now about an inch long. Not sure how big it will get before it blooms. I do know that we plan to be there when it happens. Both of us are amazed that it is blooming. I've seen a cereus bloom many years ago as a teenager when I went to Hawaii with my parents. The fragrance was heady and the flower was beautiful so I'm really looking forward to this one blooming. Be sure to look at the large version for more detail.
