DC-10 dropping fire retardant Newspaper image

The fire on the Rez caused Route 26 to be closed and detoured us onto a Rez highway for 25 miles Monday night. We could look back across to 26 about 5 miles away and see the front line of fire burning brightly in the night. Crap, this is a really, really big fire. Much like a flood, these wildfires gives a person the very disconcerting feeling of being totally impotent, along with the overwhelming urge to "run for your life". There are many fires burning around us. There are not enough assets to bring to bear on all of them. Not good. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops today.
