Joe and Tessa

Another day trip today, this time the umu cooking.

Absolutely fabulous trip. We visited Joe and Lydias home and set about preparing a traditional meal. We wove palm fronds into baskets and plates, then prepared foods for a traditional meal, an umu. Unlike Maori hangis, umus are above ground.

Taro, coconut and everything in between, simply fantastic.

A must do trip if you visit.

Oh yes, Joe being a "ladies man" made quite sure Tessas basket was well woven ;)
